About this beach

Full description

Playa Camarones is one of the largest and most easily accessible urban beaches in Puerto Vallarta. Its prime location makes it an ideal meeting spot, offering ample space for recreation and easy access to all city services. Beach Description Playa Camarones is a strip of golden, very wide sand, which allows for spacious enjoyment. Extensive Location: The beach begins where the Malecón (Paseo Díaz Ordaz) ends and extends northward, bordering the start of Puerto Vallarta's Hotel Zone. Atmosphere and Services: It is a beach with very easy access for pedestrians and vehicles. You will find multiple restaurants, bars, and beach clubs that offer chair rentals and service. Furthermore, there are several OXXOs on the adjacent streets, which are essential for buying cold drinks and snacks before heading to the sand. Public Services: Basic restroom facilities are available near Honduras Street, which leads directly to the beach. Pet-Friendly: It is a popular spot and ideal for walking your pets, like dogs, thanks to the wide expanse of sand. ⚠️ Important: Water Quality Unlike other beaches in the bay, Playa Camarones has been identified by COFEPRIS (Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks) as a non-suitable or contaminated beach in their latest updates. Reason: This is due, in part, to the large amount of water and possible runoff that rivers and streams bring into the bay during the rainy season. Conclusion: For this reason, the beach currently does not hold any quality certification like the "Blue Flag." Visitors are advised to take this into account and limit direct contact activities with the water.

How to get there

Walking: From the Malecón, just follow the boardwalk north. The beach is adjacent to the Historical Center. Taxi or Uber: The central location makes for a quick and inexpensive trip from any point in the city. Public Bus: To reach this area from the outskirts, you must take any route that indicates "CENTRO" on its windshield. It will drop you off near the streets that lead directly down to the beach.

Expert tip

Although it is a soft sand beach, it is important to note: Rocks in the Water: Playa Camarones has many rocks when entering the sea in several sections, which can be uncomfortable. It is a good idea to wear beach shoes or water footwear if you plan to go into the ocean for comfort and safety. Nearby Services: Take advantage of the large number of nearby OXXOs to buy your drinks and snacks at retail price before settling on the sand.
