El Paredon Beach

About this beach
Full description
A semi-virgin and tranquil beach, considered a hidden gem of Puerto Vallarta. It is famous for being sheltered by a large cliff that creates a natural cave. Its waters are crystal clear and perfect for snorkeling and relaxing away from the crowds. It lacks tourist infrastructure (restaurants or shops), making it ideal for a natural escape.
How to get there
By Land and Walking (Common Option): Take a bus (Mismaloya or Boca de Tomatlán route) or a taxi from downtown Puerto Vallarta to Las Gemelas Beach. From Las Gemelas, you must walk carefully along the coast until you reach El Paredón (comfortable or water shoes are recommended as the terrain can be unstable). By Sea (Comfortable Option): You can hire a water taxi (boat) from Mismaloya or Boca de Tomatlán to take you directly to the beach. Many boat tours around the Los Arcos/Mismaloya area include a snorkeling stop near El Paredón.
Expert tip
Go by boat or plan your walk with the tide and the hotel route. El Paredón is a hard-to-access beach you don't want to visit at the wrong time. Hire a water taxi from Puerto Vallarta or Mismaloya for a relaxed arrival, or if you choose to walk from Las Gemelas Beach, you need to know that you will have to cross part of the Grand Park Royal Hotel beach and continue walking carefully over the rocks next to the El Paredón condominium. Check the tide chart: you must go when the tide is low (or going out) so you can walk safely and have more space to enjoy the cave. WARNING: It is not recommended to go with small children or people with disabilities due to the rocky and unstable terrain. Bring your own cooler with water and snacks, as there are no vendors of any kind, allowing you to fully enjoy your time at this hidden gem.
