Playa de Oro is one of Puerto Vallarta's most well-known and frequented beaches. It is popular for its easy access, soft sand, and generally gentle waves, making it ideal for long walks and running. It is part of the city's Northern Hotel Zone.
By Bus (Coming from the South/Downtown toward the North): Get off at the Pitillal Junction (Crucero del Pitillal), where Sam's Club or Walmart are located. Cross the boulevard towards the Puerto Mágico/Maritime Terminal area. Alternatively, you can get off in front of the Outback Steakhouse and cross the boulevard. Beach access points are located near the Crown Paradise Hotel and the Icon Condominium. By Bus (Coming from the North/Marina/Nuevo Vallarta toward the South/Downtown): Ask the driver for the stop near the Crown Paradise Hotel or the Icon Condominium/Plaza Península area. By Taxi, Uber, or Private Car: Ask to be dropped off at the public beach access point located either next to the Crown Paradise Hotel or beside the Icon Condominium. Both points offer direct entry to the beach in the Northern Hotel Zone.
This beach is suitable for children and generally clean during the season from November to May. Rainfall, however, can sometimes turn the water brown. If you are coming in your own car, arrive early to find parking. The best area for this is near the Icon Condominium and the Oxxo store. At the Oxxo, you can purchase snacks and refreshments. There are umbrella rentals available, but you are also welcome to bring your own beach furniture. The sea here has gentle waves, so children can have a lot of fun. There is a taco stand with a great variety of delicious options, usually available in the morning, located between the street by Soriana and the Crown Paradise Hotel.
