It is the main boardwalk facing the Bahía de Banderas (Banderas Bay). Length: The official promenade extends approximately 1.540 meters (1.5 kilometers), although the central pedestrian-only section is about 800 meters. Characteristics: The main stretch is exclusively for pedestrians, ensuring a relaxing and safe walk, free of vehicles. 📜 Brief History The construction of the original Malecón dates back to 1935 and 1936. Throughout its history, it has undergone several crucial renovations, one of the most significant occurring after Hurricane Kenna in 2002. After years of reconstruction, it was reopened with a wider pedestrian path, consolidating its status as the city's main public art space. 🗿 Monuments, Art, and Points of Interest The Malecón functions as an open-air art gallery exhibiting permanent sculptures by local and international artists. 🌟 Iconic Points of Interest The Puerto Vallarta Letters: These colorful maxiletters are a must-see photo spot and one of the biggest tourist landmarks. Location: They are typically placed flanking The Seahorse sculpture or in front of Los Arcos. Creators: The letters have been restored and designed by local painter Marcela Lepe and her nephew, the artist Luis Lepe, as a tribute to the naif style and motifs of the legendary Vallarta painter Manuel Lepe Macedo. Los Arcos (Aquiles Serdán Amphitheater): An iconic structure facing the sea that serves as a forum for free cultural shows, including the traditional Papantla Flyers (Voladores de Papantla) show.
