Breakfast at Elias Place

Description
This establishment is a small Mexican restaurant, widely known for its focus on traditional breakfasts. Although humble in appearance and small in size, it is immense in flavor and low in price, making it a hidden gem of the local gastronomy. Its specialty is the chilaquiles, available in red and green sauces, which hold a local reputation for being among the best in Puerto Vallarta, in addition to being offered at a very accessible price. Gastronomic Offer and Service The menu consists of a variety of classic Mexican morning dishes, including sopes, empanadas, tacos dorados (fried tacos), eggs prepared to taste (huevos al gusto), quesadillas, enchiladas, salpicón (shredded meat salad), and tostadas. A key distinguishing feature of the place is the preparation of handmade tortillas made on the spot to accompany the meals. The restaurant is managed by Elia and a younger female assistant. Due to the high demand and the artisanal preparation of every order, the staff is constantly busy. Consequently, the waiting time for orders can be up to 20 minutes, although regular patrons consider that the quality of the food makes the wait worthwhile. For beverages, they offer fresh flavored waters (aguas frescas) and bottled soft drinks.

How to Get There
How to Get to the Mercado Municipal Río Cuale from the Malecón The Mercado Municipal Río Cuale is situated right next to the Cuale River, very close to both the Malecón and the Romantic Zone (Old Town). Taking the Malecón as the starting point, the following transportation options are available: 1. Walking (Most Recommended Option) From the Malecón, the Mercado Río Cuale is a very short distance away and is the most direct and pleasant way to get there. Route: Simply walk south along the Malecón (heading towards the Seahorse Statue and the Romantic Zone). When you reach the southern end, where the Malecón meets the Río Cuale, you will see the market near the bridge. Estimated Duration: 10 to 15 minutes, depending on your exact starting point on the Malecón. Advantages: It is a beautiful walk that allows you to enjoy the sculptures and atmosphere of Downtown. It is free of charge. 2. Taxi or Ride-Share Platform (Uber/DiDi) Although it is a very short ride, it is the ideal option if you prefer not to walk or if you have many purchases. Route: Ask the driver to take you to the "Mercado del Río Cuale" or "Mercado Municipal." Estimated Duration: 5 to 10 minutes (always dependent on traffic). Estimated Cost: It will be the minimum fare for the area. Taxis might be slightly more expensive than ride-share apps. 3. City Bus (Camión) While not strictly necessary for such a short distance, if you happen to be on a bus route heading in that direction, it is an option. Route: Look for any bus that indicates "Centro" or "Río Cuale" on its windshield. Many buses that circulate on the main downtown street pass near the market. Estimated Duration: 10 to 20 minutes (depending on the route and stops). Estimated Cost: Approximately $10 MXN (local bus fare). In summary, from the Malecón, walking is the most convenient, quickest, and most enjoyable option to reach the Mercado Municipal Río Cuale.
