Puerto Vallarta Yellow Taxis

Puerto Vallarta Yellow Taxis

Get around easily with transportation options

These are the official and most common taxis within the city, easily recognizable by their yellow color or combination of white and yellow. They are managed by local unions (sindicatos) and represent the traditional means of transportation. They offer high availability across virtually the entire urban area and in major tourist zones. Operation and Cost: No Meter Used: This is the most important feature. Fares are based on a zone system established by the taxi union. Mandatory Negotiation: It is essential to ask for and agree upon the price of the trip with the driver before getting into the vehicle. If you do not ask first, you risk being charged a higher fare upon reaching your destination. Night Rates: After approximately 10:00 PM, fares are usually higher (sometimes up to 20% more). Payment: They generally only accept cash (Mexican Pesos). Location and Availability: Sitios (Stands): You can find them parked at official "sitios" or stands outside large hotels, shopping centers, and on main street corners downtown (such as near the Malecón or Lázaro Cárdenas Park). On the Street: They can be easily hailed on any main street or avenue. Phone: Many hotels have contact numbers for site taxis to request one directly. Service: They are known for being fast and knowing the city very well. Airport Exclusion: Yellow taxis do not have legal permission to pick up passengers inside the terminal of the Puerto Vallarta International Airport (they can only drop off passengers there). If you need a taxi from the airport, you must use a Federal Taxi (white with a green stripe) or walk outside the terminal to find a yellow taxi or an Uber. Hours: The yellow taxi service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
